the little paradise in the southern tip of Cebu-- Eden Resort, Santander

more than month ago, i went back to Cebu to attend my friend's lovely and blissful wedding. and to take advantage of being there, i decided to see the beach first. after all, what is a Cebu trip without the beach?

i scouted online for a very affordable resort where i could really really relax and just enjoy some peace and quiet. i found this one in Liloan called Eden Resort which looked so promising especially that it's so near the city. that's what i thought, until i found out that it was in another "Liloan" in Cebu. we already booked our room before i knew that it was located in Brgy. Liloan in the southernmost town of Cebu-- Santander. that was an almost-four-hour bus ride to get there.

not having known that was a blessing in disguise though. had Toni, Ate Mye, and i been aware, we would not have gone on and made our reservation. except for the long road trip (just because we were not expecting it), our overnight stay at the resort was everything i wanted as a summer-ender.

once aboard the bus, getting to Eden was no pain in the ass anymore because it's right along the road that the buses traveled on. as soon as we entered, we were already given a hint of what was then awaiting us. "a touch of paradise," said the welcome signage.

at the reception, the staff instantly handed us our welcome drinks, much to my delight because i was so thirsty. as soon as we registered, we were escorted to our room right away. and we could not believe the room. this is the best thing about Eden Resort: their pictures online do not lie. it's quite a rare experience because this doesn't happen all the time and you know what i mean, especially the budget travelers out there. as they promised, the room was spacious. the toilet and the closet were huge. and right from your bed, the sight of the serene sea and Negros island was to die for. it's almost unbelievable that room cost only P3,300 for the three of us.

the shore of the beach in the resort was rather rocky. but the water's nevertheless inviting, right?

the rooms were built on the edge of a cliff.

what could be more awesome than a breakfast in your own patio overlooking the sea? plus they cooked really well.

the patio

the cute but very beautiful infinity pool
we ate all our meals there. though the prices were not so friendly and their menu quite limited, they served us really sumptuous dishes.

and we basked in the sun till it came down magnificently in the horizon right there.
and the pool at night was just as lovely as it was in the day.

they didn't lie in their website in telling that they offer western standard of service. we were not misled by any deceiving marketing tactic an ordinary resort/hotel in the Philippines would do. except for the rice (because i am a Filipino), everything was abundantly provided. aside from the huge closet and toilet, the staff provided us really attentive and extensive service. upon checking out, they even dropped us off at the bus terminal. we found it really sweet. if Toni and i weren't only late for our flight from Manila and not forced to buy ourselves new tickets, we might have had budget to stay for another night. that would have been wonderful.
