a bolder reyfist in 2012

it's the adrenaline rush that made my last year one of the best times of my life. i traveled so much, not for pleasure, but to challenge my physical capacity. this was really unintentional though.

i know the things i did weren't that extreme but considering how inactive i've become from any physical activities since high school when i used to seriously play badminton, it's really quite something for me especially that i didn't have a hard time doing them (please excuse the brag, haha). i proved that i'm still fit despite my ever-growing lethargy.

almost all of these things were a first for me: the ziplining in Cebu City; the hiking in Mt. Pinatubo; the spelunking in Sagada; the surfing in Baler; and the camping in Mt. Pulag. in addition to these, the mishaps during these trips due to lack of preparation or just for the love of adventure made that year one of its kind.

one of the most exciting trips for that year would be my solo backpacking trip to Thailand. the language barrier! you'd instantly learn how to do sign language especially when you're out of the capital city and the only word coming out of your mouth the locals would understand was "Bangkok".

of course, i wouldn't let the year pass without seeing beautiful seashores. i was impressed with how neatly the White Beach in Puerto Galera is kept despite the many vacationers during the summer; charmed by the untouched beauty of Dicasalarin Cove which a friend and i got to enjoy only by ourselves the time we went there; and awed by the majestic waves crashing the Philippine's rocky northern coast in Ilocos.

and i guess the best part of that travel-ful year was ending it at the top of Luzon. haha. i could not ask for a better year-ender than being at the Philippines' second highest summit.

the exploring doesn't end here and the more spontaneous it gets, the better. to everyone who has feet as itchy as mine, kampai! the world is waiting for us with more and bigger adventures. :)
